Evidence before labels
A search result or manufacturer claim is not proof of certification. Our system distinguishes four evidence states.
Verified product
An exact product URL and product identity, backed by current official product-scope evidence and an explicit independent review.
Verified operator
An operator independently confirmed by an authoritative source. This does not verify every item sold by that business.
Historical operator record
Information reported in a dated registry export. Our current USDA import is dated November 1, 2026; a historical status cannot establish status today.
Unverified search result
A real provider result without approved product-level evidence. Verified-only results may therefore be empty. This is a data limitation, not evidence that a product is non-organic.
Additional limitations
USDA Organic, Canada Organic and EU rules have distinct definitions. Organic is not synonymous with local, vegan, fair trade, or universally sustainable.
